Even as he is being accused of blowing the lid off the Boakye Agyarko bribery scandal, self-acclaimed financier of the governing New Patriotic Party, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, is also pointing accusing fingers at some kingpins of the party for plotting the scandal because they missed out on the Energy Minister post. Known for his no–holds–barred effusions, the Assin Central MP revealed that some NPP big shots whose eyes were on the Energy Minister portfolio engineered the bribery allegation to get Mr Agyarko fired by President Akufo-Addo so their favourite could be appointed. Speaking on Adom Tv’s Badwam program last week, the acerbic tongue legislator also alleged some members of the minority NDC who despise Minority Leader, Haruna Iddrisu and wants his leadership marred, conspire

Dr KB Asante KB Asante, retired diplomat and aide to former President Kwame Nkrumah, has frowned upon the practice of selling state vehicles to public servants who used them, describing the practice as ‘bush.’ His contemptuous description is coming at the heels of a raging and near endless controversy surrounding ‘missing and stolen’ state vehicles since the current political administration assumed the leadership of the country. The respected former diplomat, who was part of the team which accompanied Kwame Nkrumah to Bawku in the Upper East Region when the late president escaped the in-famous Kulungugu grenade assassination attempt, said such a practice which has been the norm in the country for several years “is a bush way of doing things.” Known for frankly stating his m
Former President John Dramani Mahama has described the new government’s decision to appoint a Special Prosecutor as “another step forward.” President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as part of his campaign promises served notice he will set up an office of a Special or Independent Prosecutor to deal with corruption. However, Mahama believes the independent prosecutor can only be effective if he or she is truly “independent enough” to deal with all manner of cases. “The new administration in Ghana has decided to introduce an independent prosecutor. That’s another step forward after NACAP [National Anti-Corruption Action Plan] and other interventions in the quest to fight corruption. “But the independent prosecutor must be independent enough and prosecute cases even if from within this a
